Mae E. Barnes

Mrs. Mae Elizabeth Barnes, 81, of Troy, MO, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy. She was born on June 3, 1930 in Silex to Abner and Ruth (Welch) Momphard. After Mae's formal schooling, she met and later married Otis Barnes. They were united in holy matrimony on July 12, 1952 and were blessed with seven children. For over 35 years, Mae worked as a nurse for Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy and after her retirement, she went to work for Elsberry Health Care. Caring and being concerned about others was who Mae was. It was second nature for her to be kind and gentle. The Cardinal baseball team was special to her. In past years, she was on a bowling team and had been a good bowler. Mae was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Most of her days were filled with thoughts and concerns of others, never herself. Surviving are her loving children: Keith and wife Connie Barnes of Troy, Rusty and wife Lynn Barnes of Salisbury, Maryland, Joe Barnes of Troy, Bruce and wife Marilyn Barnes of Troy and her only daughter, Martha Graddy of Silex. She is further survived by her adoring seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her two brothers: Pistol and wife Betty Momphard of Elsberry and R.J. and wife Bonnie Momphard of Vandalia and her three sisters: Sis Fink of Silex, Marie and husband Archie Fry of Troy and Becky Momphard of Troy. Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis Barnes; her sons: Everett Alan Barnes and Brian David Barnes and her grandson, Chris Graddy and her siblings: Kate Momphard, Bill Momphard, Earl "Shotgun" Momphard and Harold "Wiss" Momphard.
