Obituary

Anthony  "Tony" J. Berenato, 95, of Troy, Missouri, formerly  of Florissant passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.  He was born on June 3, 1928 in Hammonton, NJ to Joseph and Mary (Cessato) Berenato.  Tony grew up with his sister, Marie.   After graduating from high school, he attended Rolla School of Mines for three years and then enlisted in the U.S. Army.  He served in Yokohama,  Japan during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on February 1953.

He first married Marie Gerard who he met while at college before graduating and then went to work for  Westinghouse.  Tony raised his kids with his wife in Florissant, relocating there in 1965.  Marie passed away  on December 30, 1981.    He later met his future wife, Carol Blinzig at Chapel of The Cross and the rest is history.  The couple was joined in holy matrimony on August 24, 1984.  Together they had a blended family which they dearly loved and cherished each and everyone of them.

On Oct. 2008, they moved to Lincoln County to be closer to many of their extended family.  Tony was an avid reader and was very knowledgeable about history and almost everything in life.  He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals.  Tony loved his family and "lit up" when he saw his grandchildren.  He was a kind, intelligent, caring husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his beloved wife of over 40 years, Carol Berenato of Troy; their children Rose (Scott) Loebl, Gregory Berenato, Timothy Berenato,  Steven (Teresa) Blinzig, Linda (Jim) Farrar,  Jennifer (Jason) Woodcock and Thomas Blinzig.  Tony is further survived by his loving grandchildren:  Jessica (Brad) Gibbs, Jacob (Shelbie) Rogers, Amanda (James) Esslinger, Julia (Skye) Broyles, Jenna (Daniel) Jeffers, Joy Farrar, Faith ( George) Evans, Gracie (Andrew) Amacher, Christian Woodcock, Andrew Woodcock, Nicola Loebl, Nadia Loebl, Nina Berenato, Brock Berenato, Jason Berenato, Katie Marie (Benjamin) Wright; and blessed with many great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his first wife, Maria Berenato; his sister Marie Perrone; his daughter, Christine Rogers; his four grandsons: Kyle Rogers, Jimmy Farrar, Joshua Farrar and Noah Loebl.
