Barbara Jean
Hicks
May 16, 1950 — Oct 4, 2022
Troy
Barbara Jean Hicks, 72, of Troy, MO, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022. She was born on May 16, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harold Lee Murphy and Josephine (Joanne) Sheffield. Barbara lived her life to point all glory back to her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She was baptized by her son earlier this year, which was such a meaningful celebration for her and her family. We know that she is rejoicing with Jesus now. She was deeply loved by her children, Michelle L. DeHart and Jason E. Hicks, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew her felt profoundly loved. She excelled in arts and crafts, blessing various ministries with her many talents, including multiple orphanages and schools in Africa. She lived simply, but the impact of her love was felt globally. She enjoyed serving in children's ministry her entire life, and she enjoyed cooking and baking, preparing meals for those in her church and at General Motors, her employer of over 30 years. She will be remembered as being joyful and serving others, for her firm faith, and her love for people.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her two brothers, Edgar (Carla) Murphy and Michael (Donna) Murphy.
