O'Fallon

Obituary

Carol Richardson, 82, of O'Fallon, MO, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. She was born on December 31, 1940, in Briscoe, MO, to Carl and Helen (Nichols) Wells. Carol was 8 years old when her father passed away and the family relocated to St. Louis at that time. This is where she graduated from Central High School. At the age of 25, she married her sweetheart, Walter Lee Richardson on April 30, 1966 in St. Louis. After marriage, the couple moved to South St. Louis and this is where their two daughters were born. She was always very involved with her children's schooling and was a member of P.T.O. and served as room mother.

In 1971, the family moved to O'Fallon, MO, and Carol began working for MEMC after her children were raised. She worked there for 18 years until her retirement and so enjoyed being there. Carol was a music lover and traveled to many Bluegrass festivals and gatherings. She had many lifelong friends. If you were a friend of Carol's you had a friend for life, unconditionally. Carol lit up a room with her smile and never met a stranger. Her favorite pastime was keeping in touch with friends and loved ones, especially on the telephone.

She is survived by her loving family members: two daughters: Sherry Ann Hill of Hallsville, MO, and Carol Leigh Schulte of Winfield; her four grandchildren: Aaron (Jawad) Ziegemeier, Clinton (Carlie) Schulte, Chase (Taryn) Schulte, Kelsey (Kyle) Gabris and four adoring great-grandchildren: Ella, Brentley, Beau, Raelynn; other relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and her sister.
