Charlotte A. Unland (nee Matthes), of St. Charles, MO and formerly of Troy, MO passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at NHC Nursing Home in St. Charles. She was born on Feb. 20, 1938 in St. Louis to Robert and Charlotte (Rogenhoffer) Matthes. Charlotte grew up in Jennings and attended Fairview High School along with her three siblings Bobby, Gary and David. On Nov. 12, 1960 she married her husband Robert "Bob" Unland. The wedding took place in Belleville, IL and the marriage lasted for 39 wonderful years until Bob passed away in 1999. Together Bob and Charlotte raised two children:  Michael and Kari. In 1977, the family moved to Troy, MO to enjoy country living. Charlotte became a business owner, Katies Cupboard in which she met and befriended many of her customers and soon became involved in the community. She was a member of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, BPW, Community Betterment, VFW Auxiliary and her beloved Democratic Club. Charlotte served as an officer in many of the organizations- in 1984 she was President of the Chamber of Commerce and in 1986 she was named the Chamber of Commerce "Woman of the Year". Most of her working career was in the nursing home industry. She served in many capacities including administrator and dietary supervisor at both Charlevoix in St. Charles and Medicalodge in Troy for over 15 years. Working hard and following through was what she always did. Charlotte was a great mentor to many who served under her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her loving children: Mike (Christie) Unland of Wildwood, Kari Bowers of O'Fallon and her grandchildren: Blake Bowers, Claire Bowers, Jacie Unland, Hallie Unland, her brother Gary Matthews, and a very special friend and honorary brother, Bob Soos.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Unland and her two brothers: Robert Matthes and David Matthes.
