Obituary

Clara Mae "Pooch"  Shelton, 83, of Eolia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy.  She was born on March 8, 1940 in Troy to Laura Mae Hall and Mr. Davis.  Pooch was raised by her loving mother,  Laura Mae Sparks, and later joined by her step-father, George Sparks.   She grew up in Troy but graduated from Sumner High School.  Her claim to fame was that she graduated from the same high school that her idol, Tina Turner, did.

Pooch was blessed with her two sons, Calvin and Paul, who  were the joy of her life.  They brought her so much happiness.  When she worked for Rand McNally, the family lived in Evanston, Illinois.  The family later moved back to Troy.  To make ends meet, she cleaned homes for people and did an excellent job.  After she retired, she enjoyed watching her grandsons  play basketball and loved spending as much time as possible with her family.  Watching "soaps", gardening and especially canning were some of her other pastimes.  She will be greatly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her loving family members:  her two sons: Calvin and wife Dawn Shelton of Eolia, Paul and wife Kelly Shelton of Hazelwood; her three adoring grandchildren: Jamel, Uriah, Jordan and her four great-grandchildren: Seigio, Jade, Naomi and Everleigh.  She is further survived by her brother, Eugene and wife Laura Sparks of Troy; her sister, Izetta Sparks of O'Fallon; other relatives and friends.

Pooch was preceded in death by her parents; George and Laura Mae Sparks and two brothers: Larry Sparks and Terry Sparks.
