Clayton Wayne
Duff
May 3, 1943 — Mar 18, 2024
Hawk Point
Clayton Wayne Duff of Hawk Point passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 18, 2024 at the age of 80. Clayton was born May 3, 1943 to John and Ella (McDannold) Duff of Hawk Point. He attended Troy Buchanan High school, graduating in 1961. Clayton was united in marriage to the love of his life, Barbara (Roberts) of Silex on June 25th, 1966. The couple had two sons: Eric and Gregory.
Clayton was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and most recently great-grandfather. He was a dear friend to many, and those around him knew he had a passion for working in his garden, restoring antique furniture, feeding his birds, and spending time with his friends and family. Family was most important to Clayton; in his final days he spoke of how proud he was of his sons and the families they had built.
Clayton was actively involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He attended many ball games, hockey games, and rodeos over the years. In his past time, he loved driving out to his son's houses to see the horses, donkeys, and goats. His most recent venture was the birth of his first great-grandson, Grayson Wayne Duff, who quickly became his pride and joy.
In his early years, Clayton owned and operated Clayton's AG Market in Hawk Point. Most would remember him as the butcher. He then went on to become a long time local Insurance Agent, serving Lincoln County and the surrounding areas. He was an active member of his community, coaching Khoury League teams for numerous years, a member of the Elks Club, Lincoln County Republican Club, and a devoted long-standing member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawk Point. He also served as a member in the United States Army.
During Clayton's time as a member of the Lincoln County Republican Club, he served as President, Vice President and was elected to the Lincoln County Republican Central Committee, representing Hawk Point Township. In April of 2015, his wife Barbara and he were deservedly honored with a "Lifetime Achievement" award for their many years of service and contributions to the Republican party.
Clayton is survived by his children: Eric Duff (Tammy) of Hawk Point, and Gregory Duff (Elaine) of Hawk Point; his grandchildren: Branden Duff (Kayla) and Cierra Duff; his great grandchild: Grayson Wayne Duff; sister: Judy Royster of Silex and Barb Mudd of Troy and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Barbara Duff; parents John and Ella (McDannold) Duff; siblings Dorothy Kelslick, Rosie Canady, Pearl Davis, George Duff, Ella Margret Colbert, John Duff, Larry Duff and Charles Duff.
The memorial service, conducted by the family, is scheduled for Saturday, April 6th at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Hawk Point. According to his wishes, following the church service, fried chicken will be served at a Celebration of Life in the church hall.
