leaving behind a family who will deeply miss his quiet presence, remarkable talents, and gentle, laid-back nature

Darrel R. Wilburn, 74, passed away on October 2, 2026, leaving behind a family who will deeply miss his quiet presence, remarkable talents, and gentle, laid-back nature.

Born on June 21, 1952. in St. Louis, Missouri, to Andy and Doris Wilburn, Darrel grew up in the St. Louis area and graduated from Ritenour High School. In 1973, he married Linda (Hendrickson) Wilburn in St. Louis, beginning a marriage and life together centered around family. He was employed as a Locksmith with Top Knotch Distributors for over 15 years.

Gifted with both creativity and an ability to work with his hands, Darrel was truly a craftsman. His talents could be seen in countless projects over the years, from remodeling homes and finishing basements to building cabinets and laying flooring. If something needed to be built, repaired, or imagined, he could usually find a way to do it. Among his most memorable creations was a Mustang crafted from wood and made into a pedal car—a special example of the artistry, patience, and ingenuity he brought to everything he made.

Those who knew him best describe a quiet, intelligent, and easygoing man who never needed to be the center of attention. Happiness was found in the simple things, particularly time spent surrounded by family. His grandchildren held an especially treasured place in his heart, and the memories created with them will remain a precious part of his legacy.
