David Ivan Owens Jr. 79, of Foley, MO, passed away on Sept. 14, 2021 at SSM-Lake St. Louis Hospital. He was born on Nov. 17, 1941 in Swanwick, IL to David Ivan and Pauline (Wilson) Owens Sr. David attended the local schools, along with his two siblings. David graduated from Marissa High School in IL. David and Judith met on a blind date and Judith knew this was the man she was going to marry. On April 24, 1963 they were united in marriage in IL. To this union were born three children; David, Brian and Denise. David was a hard worker and supported his family working in Zeigler coal mine until it closed down. He then worked at Kroger and Wal-Mart until he retired. In 2003, the family moved to Foley, MO, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. David and Judith took care of many stray animals that would come to their house in need. David and Judith enjoyed shooting pool  and playing cards with their friends Mary and Jack. David was an avid hunter and fisherman, as long as his health permitted.

He is survived by his beloved children, David and wife Belinda Owens of Georgia and Denise and husband Michael Menckowski of Lake St. Louis, grandchildren; Shawn, Alex (Kenzi), Allison, Brian, Diane and Derek, great-grandchildren; Ayden, Landen, Easten, Ivan, Colin, Lillia, Hudson and Briana and siblings, Norman and wife Naomi Owens of Marissa, IL, Paula and husband David Owen of Marissa, IL., Pamela and husband John Dahlem and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith Owens and his parents.
