Obituary

Earl R. Wolter of Troy, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024 at his home.  He was born on Sept.17, 1929 in St. Charles, MO.  Earl was the second son born to Virgil and Clara (Moentmann)Wolter.  Earl graduated from Quincy High School, Quincy, Il.

He then  served in the United States Army from 1947-1951.  During his military service he received the Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, a Merit Unit Commendation and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation.

After his military service, he met his future wife, Delores Buffington.  They married on Feb. 4, 1955.  They had three children: Lisa, Terry and Tammy.  Earl was employed by Scudder Gale Grocer Co. in Quincy, Il. and Hercules construction in St. Louis. The couple moved to Troy, MO in 2000.  After retiring, he enjoyed driving the school bus for many years.   They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Earl was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He dedicated so much of his life caring for his wife who was ill for many years before passing in 2010.  He loved his family and his St. Louis Cardinals.  He was a kind, caring man who loved the Lord.  He enjoyed having a good time.  There was nothing better than to see that mischievous sparkle in his eyes.

Earl is survived by his loving children: Lisa and her husband Dana King of Camdenton, MO, Terry and his wife Lynn Wolter of Troy, MO, and Tammy and her husband Stuart Garland of Foley, MO, as well as his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, step- grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.  He was the best papa to all of them.
