Obituary

Frances Lee (Burns) Awalt, a beloved wife, mother, grammy and friend passed away at her home on September 4, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Edward Awalt of Troy, her son, Kevin (Teresa) of Troy, her grandchildren, Devyn of St. Louis, Loren of Colorado, Kathryn of St. Peters and Dorothy of Troy and many family and friends. Fran was born on September 6, 1946 to Dorothy and Loren Burns in St. Louis. She spent a portion of her childhood in Fulton, Missouri because her parents owned and operated the Palace Hotel and Tap Room bar. They moved back to St. Louis where she finished high school at Riverview Gardens. After high school, she met her husband to be, Edward Lee Awalt and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where they got married and had her only child, Kevin Lee Awalt. They moved back to the St. Louis area in the 70's and raised their son in North County. Fran worked full-time for Oxford Pentaflex and then later Venture Stores, where she met many lifelong friends. She later became a business owner and retired in early 2000's. Ed and Fran bought a small house near Mark Twain Lake where they would spend their weekends fishing which was Fran's favorite pastime. After their son graduated high school they moved to Mark Twain for a few years, then moved to their farm in Eolia, Missouri. This became Fran's heaven on earth, where she spent most weekends with all of her grandchildren bringing her some of the happiest times of her life. Fran and Ed bought a house in Cape Coral, Florida to escape the cold Missouri winters. Eventually, selling the house in Eolia and moved next door to Kevin's family in Troy, Missouri dividing their time between here and Florida. Fran had tons of adventures and they took lots of vacations with family and friends but spent most of those times with Aunt June and Uncle Rod. Tons of vacations out west;  but the fishing trips were Epic! Fran will be deeply missed by everyone she touched.
