Gladys M. McCarty, 70, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on July 12, 1955, in Logan, West Virginia to Jefferson and Goldie (Smith) Jackson. Gladys grew up in the hills of West Virginia with her four siblings.   Gladys was married on December 2, 1982 to Dennis McCarty at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. The couple enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Working hard was no stranger to Gladys. She drove a truck for Creech Brothers for many years. Taking care of her children was her number one priority. She was a nurturing, loving, and caring mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gladys will be greatly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

Survivors are her loving family members: her husband, Dennis McCarty of Wright City; her four children:  Son, Thomas and wife Heather Spurlock of Columbia; his children: Dalton, Tanner, Jacob, Raylen;  Daughter, Susan and husband Jesus Antonio Diaz of Columbia; her children: Michael and wife Mia Irvin; their children: Taylor, Davien, Melinah, Zenzaylla; Michelle Irvin; her children: Keigan, Elijah, Gabriel, Kai; Damien Irvin: his child Jaylee; Ashley Irvin; her children: Cilas,  Skye; Axel and wife Hanna Irvin: their child; Oliver;  Son, James and wife Latashia Spurlock of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his children: James Jr, Devin, Gianna. Son, Johnny and wife Jessica  Spurlock of Hawk Point; his children: Shellyann her husband, Brian Avant, and their children: Zoey and Bryson,  Matthew and his wife Gaby Spurlock,  Adam, Luke Spurlock; three stepchildren:  Jeremy and wife Tasha Hoard of Wright City; Jody and wife Tashina McCarty of Wright City; Billy and wife Tasha McCarty of Warrenton; with many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren she dearly loved. Her best friend, a lifelong sister, Suzi Umphenour and her husband, Jim of New Florence.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her four siblings, and her infant son, Jimmy Ray Spurlock Jr.

Visitation scheduled on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the McCoy Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone St., Troy, Missouri 63379.

A funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone St., Troy, Missouri 63379. Pastor Don Amelung to officiate. Interment in Hawk Point City Cemetery. Following the interment, the family is hosting a Celebration of Life at the Hawk Point V.F.W.
