Obituary

Janis R. Bray, 76, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on January 5, 2026. She was born on January 19, 1949, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to parents John and Shirley Fielder.

Janis grew up in Costa Mesa, California, before moving to Troy, Missouri, during her senior year of high school. There, she met and married Michael Butcher on March 9, 1969. From this union came two daughters, Kristy and Tracy. She later married Ken Bray on November 23, 1984, sharing 41 years of marriage.

Janis worked at Western Union for many years before earning two master's degrees from Lindenwood University. She founded her own company, Smart Options for Seniors, as a care manager, and concluded her career as Executive Director of the Lincoln County Council on Aging (LCCOA) in Troy, Missouri. She devoted her life to serving others.

Her greatest joys were her faith and family. She cherished cheering on her husband, children, and grandchildren, and treasured time with her close girlfriends. Janis expressed her love for Jesus through compassionate actions and care. She worked hard, loved fiercely, and her infectious laughter and sweet smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Bray; daughters Kristy Kerley (Shane), Tracy Black (Dale), and Kelly Deleonypena (John); and grandchildren Alexis Dickherber (Jake), Korynn Hubbard, Allyson Madden (Gavin), Reece Hubbard, Michael Krumwiede (Mia), Olivia Kerley, Maggie Kerley, Grant Kerley, and Abby Deleonypena.
