Joan L. Smith, 66, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Gardenview Care Ctr. in O'Fallon. She was born on June 3, 1956 in Pittsfield, IL to Vernon and Fern (Thorelle) Stout. Joan's father was a minister and the family was very active in his church in Decatur, Illinois.

After her formal schooling, she was introduced to Scott Smith through a mutual friend. The rest is history. The couple was joined in holy matrimony on June 15, 1986. To this union was born their daughter, Shannon. The family later moved to St.Charles County and in 1989, they relocated to Lincoln County. During these years, Joan was a cashier at Dierberg's in both St. Peters and Wentzville, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Some of her hobbies included gardening, reading and helping in church. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Troy.

Surviving are her devoted husband, Scott Smith of Troy; her daughter, Shannon and husband Duston Willis of St. Peters and two loving grandchildren: London and Boston Willis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two siblings: Stephen Stout and Jolynn Gregor.

The family is hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the First Christian Church of Troy. Visitation scheduled from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A service to follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Jeff Moore to officiate.
