Joe M. Becknell, 86, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Troy Manor.  He was born on June 23, 1937 in Stark City, MO to John and Martha (Wagoner) Becknell.  Joe grew up with his five siblings in Missouri and later the family moved to California.  After graduating from High School in Long Beach, CA, he went on to graduate from Cal-State Fullerton, receiving a Bachelor's degree In sociology.  Joe married Bonnie and together they raised their three daughters: Tamera, Kimberly and Kathy.  During these years, he also served in the U.S. Army and then served in the Army/Air Force reserves for four more years.  In the early 60's, he and his brother opened D & J which was a combination store with a coin shop and tax office.  Joe was a wiz at math and enjoyed working with numbers.

He later married Carolyn and they were blessed with two children: Liz and Matt.  Joe worked as a purchaser for Anixter Co. in California and some years later he transferred to Missouri.  Some of his pastimes were watching all type of sport events and horse racing.  His family was of the utmost importance to him and he spent as much time as possible with them.

Surviving are his loving children:  Kimberly Hannah, Kathy (Rich) Dunn, Liz (Bob) Crouch, Matt (Stacy) Becknell; his sister, Lorene Woodruff and his seven adoring grandchildren:  Alicia, Travis, Michaella, Corbin, James, Madelyn and Carter; other relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his wives and his daughter, Tamera.
