Obituary

John Richard Lancaster, 62, of Troy, MO, passed away at Barnes St. Peters Hospital, surrounded by his loving family in song and in prayer. He was born on February 1, 1960, in Banbury, England to Johnny Reese and Joyce Marie (Brown) Lancaster. He attended Francis Howell School District with his brother and graduated from Winfield High School. He joined the military in 1978 where he was stationed in Germany. John and Leah (Bottomley) met 1976 in high school and later married on December 22, 1985, in O'Fallon, MO. To this union were born:  Courtney, Joshua, Aaron, and Katherine. The Lancaster family lived in Colorado for 10 years and the last 30 years in Lincoln County. He was a Service Tech for AmeriGas in Flint Hill, MO and had worked there for 9 years. John loved his co-workers, and never missed a day of work. Having a servant's heart, he was always taking care of his family and others. John was strong and a jack of all trades. He could fix or build just about anything.  He enjoyed restoring automobiles, loved riding motorcycles, playing golf, hunting, riding dirt bikes (so much that he built a dirt bike track in his backyard), and pickle ball was his new game of choice over the last couple of years. If you knew John, you knew he could make anyone laugh and sarcasm was a second language. John was charismatic and never met a stranger. He had a great voice and sang at his church. John attended church regularly and surrendered his life in baptism on 7-31-22.  He will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Leah Lancaster of Troy, and four children: Courtney and husband Christopher Goris of Wentzville, MO, Joshua Lancaster of Moscow Mills, Aaron and wife Kennedy of Lake St. Louis and Katherine Lancaster of Troy, grandchildren, Hudson Lancaster and Grace Suddarth, his parents, Johnny Reese and Joyce Marie Lancaster of Bennett, CO, one brother, Jeff and wife Kim Lancaster of Bennett, CO, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
