Foristell

Obituary

Judith Lynn (Jones) McCallister, known to her loved ones as Judy, peacefully passed away at home on September 26, 2023, at the age of 73 in Foristell, Missouri. Born on May 27, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, Judy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Judy had a zest for life and cherished her time spent outdoors. She had a green thumb and found joy in gardening and looked forward to getting new flowers each Spring for her garden. Fishing and hunting were also among her favorite pastimes. Judy had a passion for numbers and accounting, which led her to a successful career in the field. Additionally, she dedicated her time to researching genealogy, uncovering the rich history of her family.

One of Judy's greatest joys was spoiling her grandchildren and being actively involved in their lives. She took pride in supporting her grandson on his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout. Judy's love and devotion to her family extended to her husband of 53 years, Eugene McCallister, and her children: Anthony McCallister, Jason McCallister, and Christina (McCallister) Downen, as well as her son-in-law, Jacob Downen. She also leaves behind cherished memories with her grandchildren, Savonté Seep and Allison McCallister. Judy will be deeply missed by her brothers, Leonard David Jones and John Jones, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Clive Jones and Isabel (Puckett) Jones, as well as her sister, Linda (Jones) Moffitt, and brother, Larry Jones.

A ceremony to honor Judy's life will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on October 6, 2023. The compassionate professionals at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home in Troy, Missouri are assisting the family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Siteman Cancer Center or Susan G Komen in Judy's memory as she was a breast cancer survivor. These organizations were close to her heart and continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

Judith Lynn (Jones) McCallister will forever be remembered for her vibrant spirit, love for her family, and her many passions. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
