Obituary

Kathleen "Kate" Maureen Hardy,84, of Troy, MO, passed away on October 27, 2024. She was born on February 7, 1940 in Ferguson, MO to Leo and Octavia (Garrison) Fleming, baptized in the Catholic church. Kate attended grade school in Ferguson until the family moved to the Silex area and then attended the local schools.

Kate met the love of her life, Kenneth Hardy, through a neighbor.  Their love story began when Kenny would bring Kate home from High School and meet her for lunch dates at school on his lunch break from the bank.  They were united in marriage on November 17 1956 at Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood, MO.  To this union were born four beautiful girls, Kathy, Susan, Sally and Stephanie.  While Kenny worked, Kate kept the home ,fires burning.  She was a homemaker; she cooked delicious meals and was talented at sewing and crocheting.  Kate was devoted to her children and grandchildren and supported them by volunteering at school and attending as many events as she could.  She also loved going to garage sales and sharing her finds with family and friends.

After Kenny's retirement they moved to Troy and enjoyed their time together by traveling and spending time with family and friends. They also would volunteer delivering meals on wheels together.  Kate loved watching the Saint Louis Cardinals and other TV shows with Kenny.  After Kenny's health declined, she continued to be a devoted wife and caregiver with unconditional love.  They were just a month shy of their 67th anniversary.

Kate is survived by her daughters;  Susan Lee Hardy Mills of Ashland, MO, Sally Lynn (Don) Hakenewerth of Flint Hill, MO and Stephanie LeAnne (Darren) Williams of Troy, MO; grandchildren, Brandon (Madeline) Mills of Dallas, TX and their children Graydon and Eloise; Morgan (Mason) Hakenewerth York of Wentzville, MO and their two children, Leo and Ellie; Landon Mills (Ally Larson) of Gig Harbour, WA ; Nathan and Nolan Hakenewerth of Flint Hill, MO; Mackenzie Williams of Troy, MO; Molly Hakenewerth of Flint Hill, MO and Karsen Williams of Troy, MO; her  Sister, Patricia Roberts, Sister-In-law, Connie Fleming brother-in-law, Leland (Barbara) Hardy of Rushville, IL, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
