Laura Joene Thomas, 79, of O'Fallon, MO, and formerly of Troy, MO, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Delmar Gardens in O'Fallon.  She was born on October 4, 1942 in Western, Colorado to Joseph and Laura (Flynn) Ellis.  She grew up with her three siblings:  Linda, Jim and Mark in Colorado.  After her formal schooling, she moved to California.  Laura was blessed with three sons: Dan, Joe and Larry.   In 1995, the family moved to Troy to be closer to more of her family.  Shortly after, she began working in the office at Gardenview Nursing Home, retiring after many years of dedicated service.  Joene was an active member of The Messenger Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Troy for many years.  She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, especially at Christmas time.  Joene loved to decorate her lovely home filled with antique furniture during the holidays.  Oil painting and collecting antiques were some of her pastimes.  Her family and friends were so very important to her, and she cherished each and everyone of them.

Surviving are her two sons: Dan Thomas of Troy, Joe Thomas of Troy; seven grandchildren and her three siblings: Linda Clark of Oregon, Jim and Laura Bins Ellis and Mark Ellis; other relatives and friends.

Joene was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Larry Thomas.
