Troy
Llewellyn Kestin passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025 at the age of 92. Lew was born on April 1, 1932 in northeastern Montana. He was raised near Scobey in a small home as the 9th of 11 children. He lived a life defined by dedication, service, and craftsmanship.
A proud veteran, Llewellyn served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer USS Tingey during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge for his service to his country.
In 1955, he met his sweetheart, Irene Johnston, at a dance in Auburn, Washington. The rest is history. The couple was united in holy matrimony on July 23, 1955 in the state of Washington. He became a certified tool and die maker and machinist and worked for McDonnell Douglas, subsequently Boeing corporation. He was proud to be a builder of the F-4 Phantom II, F-15 Eagle, and F/A-18 Hornet with high level security clearance. In 1969, he and his family moved to a small farm outside of Troy, Missouri, where he spent the remainder of his life maintaining the farm while commuting daily to work at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in St. Louis, until he retired from Boeing in 1999.
Above all, Lew was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who placed his family at the center of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Irene Kestin, with whom he shared almost 70 cherished years. He was a loving father to Stephen Kestin, Arthur Kestin, Janet Kestin Ridall, Bonnie Kestin Goins, and Larry Kestin, a proud grandfather to, Jennifer Ridall Huellewig, JoAnna Ridall Miller, Jaymie Ridall, Ann Marie Crumm, Nathan Kestin, Madison Kestin and Harrison Kestin. He was preceded in death by his first son, Stephen Kestin, whose memory he carried in his heart.
Lew's unwavering love, wisdom, and dedication to his family were the foundation of his life. He led by example, teaching the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness. His legacy will live on through the family he loved so deeply.
His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. A private service will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organization of donor's choice.
