Marcella "Marcie" E. Smith, 90, of Troy, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at her residence.  She was born on Sept. 6, 1931 in Koetztown, MO to Henry and Sophie (Uthret) Juergensmeyer.  Marcie was the youngest of five children and raised in Osage County until age 14.  The family then moved to St. Louis and after her formal schooling, she began working at the Landers Cosmetic Factory in St. Louis.  It was while working there that she met her future husband, Lee Smith, through his sister.  They were united in marriage on her birthdate, Sept. 6, 1952 at Holy Name Church in St. Louis.  They were blessed with a daughter, Pauline, who was the joy of her life.  Lee had a home built in North County and the family lived there from 1952 until 1976.  They later moved to Bissel Hills, MO in 1976 and remained there until 1988.  When Marcie's husband retired, they moved to Troy, MO to be closer to their daughter and family.  Throughout the years, Marcie babysat for her grandchildren and then later for her great-grandchildren.  Her family said she was an excellent cook who also loved to bake and clean house.  Her home was always spotless.  She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.

Surviving are her devoted daughter, Pauline Buford of Troy; her two grandchildren: Amanda and husband Steve House of Troy and Austin Buford of Troy.  She is further survived by her adoring great-grandchildren: McKenna and Charlize and other relatives and friends.

Marcie was preceded in death by her husband; her four siblings and her son-in-law, Gary Buford.

Visitation scheduled from 9-10a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church in Troy.

Funeral Mass scheduled at 10a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church in Troy.  Fr. Mike Lydon to officiate.

Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Troy.
