Mary R.
Cooper
Mar 1, 1937 — Oct 12, 2022
O'Fallon
Mary R. Cooper, 85, of O'Fallon, MO, and formerly of Troy, MO, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022. She was born on March 1, 1937, in Malden, MO to John and Inez (Bratcher) Wood. After high school graduation, she married her sweetheart, Rodney Turnbaugh in 1955. To this union were born three children: Rodney, Dennis and Julie. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother who enjoyed cooking meals for her family. Her husband, Rodney, passed away on St. Patrick's Day. She later met Frank Cooper and they were united at the Christian Church in St. Ann in 1975. The couple moved to Troy to enjoy country living. It was during this time that Mary worked for Monsanto which later became MEMC in O'Fallon, retiring after many years of dedicated work. After her retirement, the couple liked to travel and spent time with family and friends. Mary also enjoyed bird watching, purchasing items on QVC and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life; she was blessed to be able to spend much time with them.
Mary is survived by her loving family: her son, Rodney Turnbaugh of Texas; her daughter, Julie and husband Scott Shipman of O'Fallon; her sister, Sue Parker; her 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; last but not least, her beloved dogs, Fancy and Sully, and her granddog, Charlie, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Charles B. Allen and step-mother, Pauline, her husbands and her son, Dennis Turnbaugh; her two siblings: Chuck "Bud" Wood and Joanie Hillis.
