Obituary

Oliver L. Ziemann Sr., 101, of Elsberry, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. He was born on the 4th of July, 1923 in St. Louis, MO, the child of Fred and Katherine (Schantz) Ziemann. Oliver was always a very hard worker and grew up on the family farm. In 1941, he married the love of his life, Delena Smith, and the rest is history. Together the happy couple were blessed with two children: Oliver and Shirley. He provided well for his family by working as a carpenter which he truly enjoyed. When he wasn't working he would spend time hunting, being outside and just appreciating nature. Up until his passing he remained very active. Every day he would drive his Kubota up to the mailbox to get his mail. And in the summer he would ride his riding lawn mower cutting the yard. Oliver was always a go-getter and his word was his bond. He will be remembered lovingly by all those who knew him.

He is survived by his children: his son, Oliver and his wife, Sharon of Moscow Mills, and his daughter, Shirley Maichin and her husband Raymond of Troy, five sisters: Sis Kraichely of St. Charles, Doris Hermsmeyer of Troy, Charlotte Hoeferlin and her husband, Elmer of St. Peters, Linda Fruend and her husband, Harry of Troy, Erma Chapman and her husband Ed, of Foley,  many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Delena Ziemann, one brother, Earl Ziemann, his sister, Evelyn Ellis, and his grandson, Jeffrey Maichin.
