Obituary

Paul C. Squires, 81, of Troy, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born on April 18, 1942, in St. Louis, MO to Ralph and Theresa (Beuhler) Squires. Paul grew up with his four siblings and attended the local St. Louis schools. As a young boy he worked on a ranch caring for the cattle. After completing his education, he enlisted in the U.S. National Guard and served for two years. Paul met his sweetheart, Patricia Yarbrough, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in St. Louis. The couple enjoyed dancing, especially the jitterbug. They were united in marriage in 1971. The couple was blessed a few years later with their son, Jason, who was their pride and joy.

While living in Florissant, Paul worked for Witte Brothers in the stockyard, taking care of cattle. In 1974, the family moved to Troy where they purchased a ranch. Paul loved working with his cattle, frequently referring to them as "his girls". He bought a building in Hawk Point for his business – Squires Feed – which sold feed and minerals to local farmers. Throughout the years Paul acquired additional land in four counties, continuing to raise cattle. Paul was a good provider for his family. He was always a hard worker and "did not have a lazy bone in his body", setting a good example for his son. Paul will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Paul is survived by his lovely wife, Pat Squires of Troy; his son, Jason and wife Crystal of Bridgeton; his two adoring granddaughters, Isabelle and Chloe; his two sisters, Kathy (Gino) Caira of St. Charles and Patty (Bob) Bindner of St. Peters. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his two siblings, Anne Marie Setlich and Marty Squires.
