Obituary

Roger A. Ochs, 78, of Troy, MO and formerly of Bowling Green, MO, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.  He was born on July 28,  1945 in St. Louis to Leland and Ethel (Zumalt) Ochs.  Roger was the second youngest of the children and had four siblings: Richard, Raymond, Rose Marie and Ron.  The family lived in Pond, MO and later moved to Edgewood in Pike Cty.  Later they moved to Wentzville and this is where Roger graduated from high school.  On Nov. 3, 1965, he was called to serve in the U.S. Navy.

However, before he went into service, he met his sweetheart, Barbara Smith at high school.  Roger and Barbara were joined in holy matrimony on Aug. 6, 1966 at Immanual Lutheran Church in Wentzville.  The couple was blessed with a daughter named Julie, who was their pride and joy.  The family lived in Foristell, O'Fallon and later bought a farm in Bowling Green.  His work took the family to Texas and finally back to their home in Bowling Green.  For many years, Roger worked in sales for home improvements before his retirement.

About eight years ago, the couple purchased a home in Troy so Roger could go continue  hunting with his friends.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  Roger will be greatly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his devoted wife of over 57 years, Barbara Ochs of Troy; his daughter, Julie Turner of Troy; his two grandsons: Nicholas Byrne and Ryan Turner and three great-grandchidren: Ann-Marie, Grayson and Jake.  Roger is further survived by his two brothers: Ron Ochs of Bowling Green and Raymond Ochs of Bowling Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two siblings: Richard Ochs and Rose Marie Park.
