Roy E. "Gene" Goodson, 86, of O'Fallon, MO and formerly of Troy, MO, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Delmar Gardens in O'Fallon,  He was born on July 22, 1935 in St. Louis to Georgie and Effie (Polly) Goodson.  Gene was raised mostly in St. Louis, although his father was an Assembly of God minister and the family did move several times.  As a teenager, he began working for Boeing, retiring after 41 years as a flight line mechanic in buildings 42 and 45.  Gene met the love of his life, Ruth Hampton, on July 3, 1953 and  4 ½ months later they were married on November 20, 1953.  To this union were born three children: Theresia, Dan and Dave.  The family liv ed in St. Louis until moving to St. Peters in 1961.  After Gene and Ruth retired, they moved to Lake of the Ozarks to enjoy the outdoors, especial ly fishing and boating.  The couple later moved to Troy and became very active members of First Assembly of God Church in Troy where Gene was a deacon.  Gene also loved hunting, woodworking, riding his motorcycles with his sons, and working as a boat mechanic.  Ruth passed away on December 5, 2012 and this left a hugh void in Gene's life.  While Gene was at Delmar Gardens, he met a companion, Bonnie Hutchinson and they later married.  He was a good provider for his family and cherished each and everyone of his family members.

Surviving are his three children and spouses:  Theresia (Wayne) Wohldmann of St.Charles, Dan (Torey) Goodson of Lake St. Louis, Dave (Chris) Goodson of St.Charles; 14 adoring grandchildren: Kurtis Wohldmann, Benjamin Wohldmann, Kory Goodson, Kyle Goodson, Connor Goodson, Jason Goodson, Justin Goodson, Neil Goodson, Felicia Pupillo, Tiffany Kulage, Kristen Clark  Sierra Goodson, Zachary Shollar and Jacob Shollar and 25 great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by his brother; Gary Goodson of Kansas City;  sister Willie Farrar of Springfield, MO; other relatives and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Ruth Goodson of 58 years and his wife, Bonnie Hutchinson; his two siblings: Nadine Roberts and Dorothy Holder.

Visitation scheduled from 10a.m. until 12:30p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at  First Assembly of God Church of Troy.

Funeral service scheduled at 12:30p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at  First Assembly of God Church of Troy.  Officiating:  his son, Rev. Dan Goodson and grandson,  Rev. Justin Goodson.

Pallbearers: Kurtis Wohldmann, Benjamin Wohldmann, Kory Goodson, Kyle Goodson, Connor Goodson, Jason Goodson, Justin Goodson and Neil Goodson.
