Obituary

Rev. Sue Marie Hendren Lambert (Jackson), age 80, passed away peacefully on Oct 2, 2024. She was a devoted United Methodist Pastor who dedicated her life to serving others, known for her kindness and generosity, never turning away anyone in need.On January 15, 1944, in Normal, IL Sue was born to Marlin (Bud) Hendren and Evelyn (nee Wilson) Hendren as the first of six children. While in high school, the family moved to Gridley IL where Sue graduated.

In 1961 Sue married Raymond Jackson of Lexington IL, whom she met on a blind date. The couple settled eventually in Troy MO in 1972. Sue took pride in being the parents of the "Jackson Five," Veronica Kuda of Troy MO, Tina Villa (George) of N. Richland Hills TX, James Jackson (Debbie Stubbs) of West Plains MO, Jennifer Jackson (Bill Richard) of St. Charles MO, and Jeff Jackson (Micah) of Nolensville TN. Also brought to this union were 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren scattered throughout the US. Sue's husband, Ray, preceded her in death in 2000.

Rev. Sue served in the United Methodist church and was appointed as pastor in the 1990's where she found her calling and her life flourished. She was initially appointed in the Lincoln County area. In 2004 she married Jerry Lambert of Troy MO. The couple moved to Linn County MO where Sue was appointed by the United Methodist Church in several local congregations throughout her 20 years there. Jerry preceded her in death in 2020.Before becoming a pastor, Sue could be found with a kind smile behind the counter of Barb's Donut Shop in Troy, in the kitchen of Chubby's in Moscow Mills, or at her desk at Troy Marble & Granite, always serving in the community in some capacity. Rev. Sue never met a stranger and had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. It was not uncommon to have an extra person at the dinner table. She would open her heart and home to anyone, from hitchhikers to the homeless and hurting, always striving to show unconditional love to all. Serving the Lord in the community was her favorite place to be. Throughout her years in ministry, she was involved in many committees and boards and outreaches throughout Linn County like senior apartments, food pantries, benevolence funds, the historical society, always working to better the world around her. Sue was also a long-standing member of the Order of the Eastern Star, holding many distinguished stations throughout the years in both Troy and Brookfield MO, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Browning.
