Susan Crist Kumbera Childrey, 70, of Kirksville, MO, formerly of Troy, MO, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024. She was born on April 13, 1954, in Kirksville, MO, the child of Bill and Bettie (Smith) Crist. She attended the local schools, and later graduated from Troy Buchanan High School. Susan worked for many years in the school district, in the kitchen serving the local high school kids. She and her daughter, Dawn eventually went on to open up Susan's dream, a cafe named , "Simply Sue's Cafe". Once the cafe closed, she then worked retail sales, until she retired.  Her family was always her first priority and her greatest joy. In her spare time she liked to cook, bake and spend time crafting. Susan loved spending time with her two dogs, Maggie and Uno. She was a very loving, kind, caring and giving person. Susan always sought to put others first in her life. She will be remembered lovingly by all those who knew her.

Susan is survived by her husband, Jeff Childrey of Hazelwood, MO, her daughter, Dawn (Brian) Courisky of O'Fallon, MO, her brother, Scott  and his wife, Linda Crist of Troy, MO,  granddaughter, Bayli Worstenholm (Jim) , great-grandchildren: Jimmy III, Hadli, grandson, Austin Courisky (Brandi) great-grandchildren: Tinley, Huxson, granddaughter, Cydnee Courisky, as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, William Kumbera, her son, Jonathan Kumbera and her brother, Mike Crist.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 2:00  p.m. until 6:00  p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone Street, Troy, MO, 63379, 636-528-8244 .

Funeral - will also be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Troy. Father Chuck Ticachek to officiate.
