Vernon M. "Preacher" Griesbauer, 86, of Troy, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 while surrounded by his family. He was born on January 30, 1935 in St. Paul, MO to Frank and Lena (Hakenwerth) Griesbauer. Preacher grew up on the family farm with his five siblings and learned very early in life the value of hard work, family, and fun. Preacher was called to service in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. At the age of 25, he married his sweetheart, Celine (Dames) on June 25, 1960 at St. Paul Catholic Church. He and Celine remained devoted to each other and their Catholic faith for the following 61 years. They were blessed with 10 children: Bernadette, Colleen, Vaughn, Dean, Tara, Natalie, Zane, Ava, Mia and Kendra. Starting in the 1960s, Preacher worked for 57 years as a meatcutter, eventually developing and producing his own sausage recipes for his customers. He loved working with cattle on the farm, raising dogs for racoon hunting and competitions, horseshoe pitching, playing baseball and softball in his youth, and was an avid reader all his life. Preacher took great pride in all of his children and grandchildren and was a constant presence at their sporting events and activities. More than anything, he loved his wife and was quick to share with everyone his immense fortune in sharing life with Celine. His stories, laughter, encouragement and sense of fun will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Surviving are his devoted wife of over 61 years, Celine Griesbauer; his sons: Vaughn (Denise) Griesbauer, Zane (Jennifer) Griesbauer; his daughters: Bernadette Hampton, Colleen Justin, Tara (Dale) Krout, Natalie (Kyle) Cook, Ava (Ryan) Pfeiffer, Mia Lorenzo (Bill Reidy), and Kendra (Jay) Banning; 26 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren who will be joining the family this year and whom Preacher would have cherished to meet. He is further survived by his sister, Delores Gnade, and brother, Marvin Griesbauer, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dean Griesbauer; his son-in-law, Gil Hampton; his siblings: Francis Griesbauer, Arthur Griesbauer and Dorothy Lohman.
