William "Bill" Coates, 85, of New Hartford, MO, passed away peacefully at Country View Nursing Home in Bowling Green, MO. He was born on November 7, 1937 in St. Louis, MO to Daniel Howard and Anna (Scheller) Coates Sr. He attended the local schools with his siblings and graduated from Normandy High School. Bill and Judy (Lovelace) met and were later married on August 27, 1966 at Siloam Baptist Church in New Hartford, MO. To this union were born three children; Clint, Brian and Lori. Bill was employed at Holcim, formerly known as Dundee, in maintenance for over 30 years. He was an excellent employee and seldom missed a day of work. He would still get together for lunch with fellow retirees of Holcim and they always enjoyed seeing one another. Bill and family were devoted members of Indian Creek Baptist Church and he was a Deacon there for many years. He volunteered at the Hope Center for many years  and was an AA sponsor. He enjoyed the simple things in life; spending time with family, "babysitting" Samantha and mowing grass. After Hurricane Katrina, Bill went to assist with clean up with the Salt River Baptist Association. He enjoyed the simple things in life; spending time with family and mowing grass.  Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Judy Coates of New Hartford, MO, three children;  Clint and wife Mitzi Coates of Bowling Green, MO, Brian Coates and Michelle Nutt of Vandalia, MO, Lori and husband Scott Smith of New Hartford, MO;  granddaughter: Samantha Smith of New Hartford, MO and Canton, MO and her boyfriend, Eli Pruitt of Bowling Green;  step-grandchildren; Seth and wife Kelly Flamm of St. Charles, MO and Bethany Flamm of St. Charles, MO; step-great-grandchildren; Vinny and Emilia Flamm of St. Charles, MO, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends,  his dog "Angel" and many cats and birds.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Paul, Ione and Daniel "Sid" Coates.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory,  701 N. Business Hwy 61 Bowling Green, MO, 63334

Funeral – will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Indian Creek Baptist Church., 27781 Cty Rd. 338, Middletown, MO 63359.    Pastor Jim Craig to officiate.  Serving as pallbearers:  Scott Smith, Samantha Smith, Mike Craig, Tom Craig, Bob Orf, Ron Kagy, Seth Flamm and Honorary pallbearers: J.R. McDonald, Eli Pruitt, Tom Wilkerson, Cindy Fuest, and Jenny Fuerst.
